El objetivo de estos encuentros, es generar espacios de conversación, diálogo e intercambio de ideas entre la comunidad y astrónomos profesionales, generando nexos que promuevan la alfabetización científica-astronómica de la comunidad.

Los radiómetros gemelos traídos desde ALMA en 2009 se han modernizado sustancialmente, y se ha iniciado un programa de construcción de radiómetros compactos y potentes “made in UdeC” para los cuales ya existe una demanda de varios observatorios en Chile e internacionales. Estos instrumentos miden con precisión el contenido de vapor de agua en la atmósfera por encima del sitio de su emplazamiento, al igual que la variación vertical de la temperatura en la atmósfera.
